My iPad Shows “Weak Security” When Connecting to the AirCastPro Hotspot

When connecting your iPad to the AirCastPro hotspot, iOS may display a message that says Weak Security under the Wi-Fi network name.

With recent changes to iOS, Apple may now flag some Wi-Fi networks using WPA as Weak Security. This is a normal iOS message and does not mean your AirCastPro is not working properly.

Does This Affect Printing?

No. The Weak Security message will not affect printing.

You can continue connecting your iPad to the AirCastPro hotspot and printing as usual.

Why This Message Appears

AirCastPro creates its own local Wi-Fi hotspot so your iPad can communicate directly with AirCastPro and your printer. This hotspot is used for printing and setup communication between your iPad and AirCastPro. The introduction of 2025 iPad A16 brought issues with connecting with more modern protocols and as a result, AirCastPro's hotspot has reverted to WPA in order to support this.

The Weak Security message is generated by iOS based on Apple’s Wi-Fi security recommendations. It is not an AirCastPro error message.

Is My Internet at Risk?

No. AirCastPro does not require internet access for normal printing.

When connected to the AirCastPro hotspot, your iPad is connected to the local AirCastPro network. This connection is used to send print jobs from your iPad to AirCastPro.

What Should I Do?

No action is needed.

If your iPad connects to the AirCastPro hotspot and your printer is working, you can ignore the Weak Security message.
